If you're looking to bask in the last of the summer weather then why not head to one of the country's most established equestrian events?

Taking place between Thursday September 12th and Sunday September 15th the Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials have been running for over 20 years, attracting some of the world's best riders, as well as thousands of excited spectators.

Don your best riding clothes and head on down to the 2,100-acre site for an unforgettable equestrian experience, with dressage, cross country and show jumping all on the calendar.

The first official horse inspection takes place on Wednesday and after this there will be two days of dressage, before a weekend of cross country and show jumping events.

With CCI3 and CIC3 classes, they will showcase eight and nine-year-old horses, as well as older and more experienced animals - allowing for a diverse range of competitions.

Dressage kicks the events off with pre-set movements taking place in the main Marlborough Arena, before moving on to the picnic areas above the lake for the CIC3 Churchill Arena contest.

If it's riding skill and competition you're looking for then the exhilarating cross country phase is well worth a watch.

Each rider takes on the challenge of solid fences and a unique water complex across the River Glyme as they travel around the fast, but testing, Blenheim parkland and each compete to score the best time.

The CCI3 cross country run is scheduled for 11am to 5pm on Saturday, with the CIC3 event run on Sunday between 10.30am and 2pm.

Whether you've attempted competitive cross country trials or not, this is a great opportunity to witness expert endurance and skilled techniques.

There are also the show jumping events taking place on Saturday and Sunday where you can gain tips on control and how to approach obstacles.

It's not just the events which are sure to excite, as there are pony displays, play areas, sports and classic car displays, as well as a shopping village with more than 200 outlets.
